Mentoring Objectives & Scope

To provide guidance to students on career path, resume/interview prep, and key learnings I wish I knew when starting out. I also provide a 'Day In My Life' meeting where I walk through what a typical work day looks like for me. I hope students will gain confidence in starting their first job, balancing work and personal life, a toolkit for handling difficult situations at work.

As a mentor, I can support students in the following: 

- Resume review, interview prep, LinkedIn branding
- Career exploration, matching interests and talents with professions and industries
- Student transition from college to first professional role
- Building technical or subject matter expertise (hard skills)
- Improved communication and interpersonal skills

When and where do you hold meetings with your students?

Hybrid. A mixture of in-person and virtual. Capitol Hill or Downtown.

Additional Information

Much of my experience centers around what I would call 'analyst' work. Varying projects, multiple stakeholders, and a focus on supporting the business side from a financial standpoint.

To be transparent, I don't have as much insight into finance from a banking or investment standpoint and want to make that clear to mentees that might be looking for someone with experience there.

Outside of instilling my mentees with confidence on handling their first real job, I like to give them insight into how I balance work and personal life. I think that's super important as work and personal life become more and more blended with remote and hybrid roles.
